Hi, i have a 3 bed house (unconverted) that was rented to 3 friends (sharers) when the additional licensing scheme came into force in Haringey. I had to apply for an HMO license because the tenants were unrelated. This was in May 2019. The council is now processing the license application but i asked them to cancel it, as the tenants gave me notice and left a month ago. The council asked me to fill in an exemption form which is not quite a cancellation. I don't intend to rent the house to sharers anymore but i am unsure as to how i can answer the second part of the exemption form where they asked me "What steps do you intend to take to ensure that the house no longer requires licensing after three months and how long do you think this will take?" The house is empty as of now, I believe i don't need a license anymore because the three sharers moved out and this is an unconverted house, but when it comes to reasons why this is permanent and not temporary, am not so sure that answering that i don't intend to rent it out to more than 1 household in the future is a good enough justification.... Any ideas?
