Dear more experienced than I (easier to put 'all'),
This should be an easy one to answer...
In April 2019 I bought a new (to me) house with a BTL mortgage, with the sole intention of letting it. This has come to pass and, being as the pubs are shut and there's so much Turkey inside me I can't move off the sofa, I'm doing my Self Assessment Tax Return. My list of questions is below:-

Are the following expenses, incurred wholly for the purpose of acquiring this BTL house, deductable?
1. The 3% Stamp Duty?
2. The solicitors' fees?
3. The Search fees (bankruptcy, local, and Land Registry)?
4. My travel costs to view before buying (not inconsiderable), and those during preparation for rental?
5. The Council Tax before the tenant assumed them?
6. As for 5. above but for utility bills?
7. The mortgage broker's fee?

8. On an allied subject, would the costs of renewing a lease also be tax deductable? Could this considerable cost be spread over several years' tax returns?

During my research into the Tax Rules, I have come to understand that I cannot convert from claiming fuel costs (which I do in my Heating business) to claiming a 'per mile' allowance using the same vehicle. For clarity my understanding is that my present vehicle can NEVER be used to claim 'per mile'....I must use a completely seperate vehicle for this. This gives rise to two new questions:

9. Is the above a correct interpretation of the rules?
10. If so, is that reasonable justification for running an extra vehicle purely for the letting side of my business (to put it into context, one of my houses is 200 miles from home).

Regards, PtP
