I have three very good tenants occupying a house as joint tenants. They have paid in full for the last 12 months. They have now asked to reduce the rent by one third for a fixed period of four months until one of them returns to work at the end of July. I am minded to agree to this as the alternative, they say, is for the remaining two to give notice. Advice on the internet about whether I need to issue any kind of temporary rent waiver in writing (such as a tenancy agreement deed of variation) seems to be conflicting. I've looked on your excellent website but can't find any guidance on this. Can you help? Many thanks.
