My property is managed by an agent. They obtain all the references ie. Bank ref,Tenants ID passport & check rights to live in uk, employer ref etc for the Tenants. I have been told me that although i am a landlord, i am allowed to see or get copy of these references they have obtained. The reasons they are giving is that due to GDPR laws. If I as landlord I cannot see or have a copy of those documents, then how do I know if the proposed tenants are suitable for the Tenancy? I believe the Agent has to be a member of ICO(Information Commissioner's office). I am not sure if the agent is a member of ICO and assume even if the agent is the member of ICO, do they have to have their own INTERNAL PRIVACY NOTICE which informs their Tenants to how their personal data information will be processed? Kind Regards Jay 10/08/2021 12.32
