Campaigns update: What we are doing for you

It’s been another busy week for the policy and campaigns team, representing you and your businesses at high-level meetings and events.

Our CEO Ben Beadle met with the new President of Propertymark David Votta and attended the Royal Welsh Show where he took part in a housing event with the Country Land and Business Association (CLA).

The event focussed on the supply of homes in rural areas, with the NRLA planning a joint survey with the group in a bid to amplify landlords’ voices in Wales.

He also met with Alicia Kennedy, Director at  Generation Rent – a group that represents tenants - to discuss the Government’s white paper on rental reform, identifying proposals that both landlord and tenants’ groups agree need to be changed if legislation is to be workable.

Elsewhere policy officer Tim Thomas  attended a Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) meeting with the British Property Federation and Land Aid to discuss landlord challenges, as well as a Ministerial Roundtable event with Lord Harington to discuss landlords’ financial challenges.

Director of Policy and Campaigns Chris Norris appeared on BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours yesterday regarding pets in rented accommodation, with the team putting the final touches to a survey on the Government’s rental reform proposals which will go live next week.
