Ever considered providing your tenants with some useful cleaning products and the like, to help the when they first move into your rental property? Perhaps this is something you already do. Here TradePoint (B&Q) shares its advice for creating an ideal new home starter box – the advice doesn’t just apply specifically to rentals and can also be used when moving into a new home yourself too.
A new home starter kit can contain as much or as little as you like - but here are a few things you could consider including.
A toolkit
Having a complete, all in one, toolkit on standby when you move in to a property is super helpful, so you can deal with any small DIY jobs you perhaps didn’t envisage cropping up, quickly. Need to set up flat pack furniture? Fairly straightforward, when you have the right tools on hand.
Extension leads
Extension leads always come in useful. Make sure these have surge protection on them, for additional safety.
A torch
From checking in your cupboard for meter readings to getting about in a power cut, a torch is a usedful addition to any new home kit
Cleaning products
From a bucket and dushpan and brush to toilet cleaner and washing up sponges, providing basic useful cleaning products could help get the tenancy off on the right foot, not least as these are things it is easy to foget on moving in day.
And finally....
It's also useful to remember to store keys for outbuldings, cupboards etc somewhere safe as its easy for things to get lost in the chaos of moving.
