As a landlord it's not unusual to find damage plasterboard in your property, with rental properties generally suffering a higher level of wear and tear as a result of tenants moving in and out.
If you have found dents or holes, NRLA partner Tradepoint (B&Q) has produced this handy guide on how to fix them.
Small dents
Take a ready mixed filler and then apply it to a filling knife, before smoothing over the dent.
You’ll need to wait until the filler is dry and then use a sanding block and fine grit sandpaper to make sure the area Is smooth.
Holes
Try ready-made wall repair patches. Wipe away any loose plater before applying the patch. Grab your filling knife and use it to apply pressure on the patch.
Remember to use a generous amount of filler to cover the patch and feather the edges, before leaving it to dry.
As earlier sand it back until smooth and wait for it to dry before repeating the process.
Tackling bigger issues
Measure the damaged area and using the same type of plasterboard, cut an appropriate sized piece. Depending on the size you may need a powersaw. If so, be sure to use appropriate safety equipment.
You should then sand the area thoroughly before painting.
