Introduction

As the private rented sector has grown, so has the number of the children living within it. In the latest English Housing Survey, 36% of households in the PRS had dependant children. A rise of over half a million households since 2010.

With so many more children in the PRS, it makes sense for landlords to consider what they can do to provide a property that is safe for them to live in.

This guide is intended to cover some potential issues in the property you can address when you are thinking about making a property safer for children.
