  • Understand of the Code of Practice, types of equipment, class of equipments and their construction, Visual Inspection and Combined Inspection and Testing
  • Competent to perform the duties to successfully carry out PAT testing on your equipment/appliances
  • Awareness and due regard for your own safety and that of others from the hazards electrical supply and equipment
  • Competent to Inspect and Test and item of equipment and based upon the result state that the equipment is safe or not for continued use


Landlords have a duty to ensure electrics are safe and in full working order at the start of a tenancy and PAT testing is a recommended way to maintain your equipment in a safe and compliant manner. Dependant on licensing and insurance conditions of the property, PAT testing may or may not be mandatory. This course comprises of the law, code of practice, practical training, theory and practical examinations that will enable you able to PAT test your own equipment. No prior knowledge is necessary.

Due to current safety guidelines delegates are requested to bring their own food and refreshments. Parking and public transport instructions will be provided following booking confirmation.

This training course qualifies for 4 continuous professional development (CPD) points which can help towards or maintain your accreditation with the NRLA. If you are interested in becoming an accredited landlord with the NRLA, CPD points are necessary to achieve that status. 

NRLA Accreditation recognises landlords who have agreed to maintain professional standards in the management and maintenance of their rented property and deal fairly and professionally with their tenants. Accredited members demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of their responsibilities and obligations and strive to maintain, increase and improve their knowledge of the market through training and development. CPD points are awarded for all activities which improve those attributes and are a requisite of membership of the NRLA Accreditation Scheme.
