Call of the Week: Arranging EICR

This week the advice team were able to assist one of our members with a query they had regarding the new electrical safety legislation.

The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 applies to new tenancies from 1st July 2020, and to any existing tenancy (from before the regulations came into force) from April 1st 2021.

Our member’s property is currently empty, and they are hoping to re-let it in the new year. They are looking to arrange for an electrical installation condition report (EICR) for their property as soon as practicable, before creating a new tenancy.

However, with the lockdown restrictions that are in place currently, our member was wondering if electricians are able to go out to properties still.
