Course of the month: Fire Safety for Landlords

Fire safety is vitally important and the NRLA’s complete Fire Safety for Landlords course offers everything you need to know when it comes to keeping your tenants safe.

The legislation surrounding fire safety is complex, with different buildings and property types being subject to different laws and regulations.

As a 'responsible person' you have a legal duty to keep your property safe from fire through the provisions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

This course is designed to give you a complete guide to the relevant fire safety legislation for your lets, and gives you the practical skills you need to manage fire risk effectively, whether renting out single lets, HMOs or blocks. It is also suitable for all letting agents and property managers.

It covers:

  • The different building and property types and which pieces of legislation apply
  • Fire risk assessment requirements
  • Emergency Plans and evacuation strategies
  • The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015
  • Practical tips on fire safety and with reference to the LACORS fire safety guide
  • When and how Building Regulations PART B apply to your properties
  • Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, amended 1989 and 1993 (FFFSR)

The course costs £140 for NRLA members and £175 for non-members and is worth 3 CPD points. Points can help towards or maintain your accreditation with the NRLA. If you are interested in becoming an accredited landlord with the NRLA, CPD points are necessary to achieve that status. Find out more by clicking here.

The next course will be held in London, on July 13.
