Greater Manchester’s Good Landlord Charter has now reached half of all rental homes in the region in the two months since its launch. More than 100 landlords and housing providers, responsible for more than 234,000 homes, have signed up to the scheme - representing 50% of rented households.

Landlords will need to foot the bill for damage caused by pets under a new government amendment to the Renters’ Rights Bill tabled at the eleventh hour. The amendment, announced today, has reversed an earlier pledge that would allow landlords to require tenants to have insurance to cover pet damage – less than a week before the Bill returns to the House of Lords for Report stage.
