Many landlords go the extra mile for their tenants and their local communties. In this section we feature the stories of some of our members who have been doing truly exceptional things-be it delivering food for tenants at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, or volunteering.

How the pandemic has left me struggling

Cathy is currently out of work and struggling financially due to the pandemic, her tenants are in twenty thousand pounds of rent arrears, which began prior to Covid-19 and has nowhere to turn. All because she is a landlord.

In December, landlord TMK needed to move back into his rental property with his family, ahead of the birth of his second son. Despite serving notice on his tenants in January, the tenants are still living at his property, not paying rent, and leaving TMK and his young family living in a cramped house with his parents.

The evictions ban: Phil's story

Phil became a landlord at the start of this year, after retiring from his job due to ill health. His tenant stopped paying rent at the start of February. Phil says the tenant has been receiving Universal Credit payments as normal, and has been wilfully not paying rent. Here, he explains how the ban on evictions has affected him.
