In pictures: Hundreds attend NRLA on Tour shows

Hundreds of landlords attended our free NRLA on Tour events this week, held in Ilford, East London, and Cardiff.

The events saw an excellent line-up of speakers and exhibitors sharing knowledge and expertise with delegates, as well as the chance to hear directly from NRLA CEO Ben Beadle about NRLA campaigning, and exciting NRLA prop tech developments.

In Ilford, over one hundred delegates attended the event on Tuesday for an afternoon of insightful presentations.

Ben Beadle gave an update on recent housing law changes, key focuses of NRLA campaigning, and recent developments when it comes to the NRLA's prop tech compliance arm, Safe2.

Ben also spoke about a new NRLA and Goodlord report "Renting Done Right", which he presented in the House of Lords alongside Goodlord CEO William Reeve, just hours before the Ilford On Tour event.

The afternoon also featured presentations from Deeksha Shah, a Mortgage Consultant at new NRLA partner GetGround, and a talk on permitted development rights from Peter Higginbottom, Founder & Managing Director, Planning Insight.

A lively panel debate followed, with John Williams, Regional Lettings Director, Portico; Priya Shah, East London Based Landlord & Russell Moffatt, Founder, Metastreets joining Peter as part of a panel to discuss the legacy of property licensing in London and Article 4.

NRLA on Tour Wales

On Wednesday, Cardiff City stadium played hosted to NRLA on Tour event in Cardiff.

It was a capacity crowd, as delegates head pre-recorded video messages from both the Secretary for Housing & Local Government Julie James MS, and the Shadow Housing Minister Mark Isherwood MS.

A representative from the Welsh Government also delivered an update for landlords in the room, and Cllr Linda Evans talked about Cardiff Council's work with private landlords.

Later in the afternoon, delegates were also able to put their questions to a panel of experts, which included Douglas Haig, NRLA Non-Executive Director for Wales, Cllr Lynda Thorne, Carly Jermyn of Woodstock Legal Services, and Debbie Thomas, Head of Policy and Communications at Crisis Wales.

At both events this week, landlords also had the opportunity to see live demonstrations of the NRLA’s Portfolio property management tool and the NRLA's property compliance arm, Safe2.

Using the Safe2 platform, landlords can easily order, renew, and track property safety certificates. NRLA members can purchase certificates, such as EPCs, EICR's, and gas safety certificates, at a discounted rate.

Both events this week were also supported by a range of exhibitors, including Tradepoint, Safe2, No Letting Go, 3mc NRLA Mortgages, Currys Business, the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, Leaders Romans, Cardiff Council, NACRO, Tai Pawb, Aspray.

The next free NRLA on Tour events will take place on Tuesday 28 May in Stoke-On-Trent, and then in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, on Wednesday 19th June.

Tickets on sale now for the NRLA's national conference

As the NRLA continues to run local NRLA on Tour events throughout the year, members are also invited to buy tickets for our national Landlord Conference, which takes place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on Wednesday 6 November. 

TV presenter Nick Knowles will be hosting the event this year, which will feature a mix of presentations, including a keynote speech from James Caan CBE, entrepreneur and former star of the hit TV show, Dragon's Den.
