Our tenant has paid rent for over a year using only Housing Benefit. Housing Benefit was stopped on 21 July, but some furniture remains in the property and the tenant has not returned the keys. There are mattresses and no electricity has been consumed for weeks. Might the courts accept that the property has been abandoned?
