I have served a section 21 notice on my tenant in January , giving him 2 months notice to leave the flat at the end of the current 6-months agreed shorthold tenancy period on 31 March. I have taken this action due to the tenant's behaviour, which includes his continued failure to look after the property.

Yesterday he informed me that he has not been able to find alternative accomadation and thus intends to remain in the flat for the "foressable future". My understanding is that he has been taking advice from the local Council - presumably because he is seeking a Council flat.

I am very upset at his actions and am looking for advice on my next steps: basically I want him to leave the flat as soon as possible.

Views and advice would be appreciated.
