Recommended process on renewing an AST
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

We have a tenant in residence under a 1 year AST (RLA model agreement), which ends 30 March 2013. They have been a good tenant and if they are happy to do so I would like to continue to rent to them for another year. I understand the the RLA recommends that I serve a S21(b) notice on them at least 2 months before the end of the AST term, so that I may negotiate a new AST with them to start 31 March 2013. Is that right?
