I served a section 8 notice on my tenants for engaging in canabis production and destroying my third bedroom. They were arrested and bailed. On the date the court paperwork landed on their mat, they skipped. They made no repairs, stole the carpets and underlay, washing machine curtain poles and generally messed up the house. I paid £175 to the court to get a date, which is in January. I have no forwarding address obviously. Is there any point going to court? They've gone, I wanted them out. Would the court award me costs if they've already gone? They have left (but still have keys more expense to change locks). They were not in arrears, just generally bad people. They even ripped up the wooden floor. I have spoken to the court but they were unhelpful. Can anyone give any advice?
