I have a tenent who lost their job in December. The monthly rent was due on the 1st of every month and is £575. This was missed on 1st Jan but she paid me £250 on 8th Jan with the promise of more to follow as and when she can afford it (or get housing allowance). The next payment I received was £210 on 8th Feb and then from March she finally got housing allowance which was not back dated and not for the full amount as she receives other benefits etc.

To cut a long story short, I now get the fortnightly housing allowance payments but well short of the agreed monthly amount. I'm still down by about £500 which is increasing all the time.

Obviously, whilst this has dragged on since Jan, my tenent has never actually been two full months in arrears.

Is there anything at all that I can be doing? The AST is up in Oct.
