The RLA AST states that rent must be paid "on the days and in the way we have agreed" and on the front page "The rent must be paid in advance". My question is for example if the tenancy start date is the 2nd of the month is the rent due on the 2nd or the 1st. My opinion would be the first, however as this is not specifically stated do we need a separate document which agrees (or advises)this?

Is there a reason why this is not made more specific in the AST?
