We have contacted all our landlords today to advise we no longer want benefit payments paid direct to us now have to go direct to tenant as we are having problems with over payments being paid back to the council, we have contacted one property where we cannot get in contact with the tenant which has been an ongoing problem for a few months although we still believe him to be living there we are finding it difficult to manage the property as cannot arrange property insepctions etc and no top ups ever received. The landlord did not want us to issue notice of possession on tenant so have just carried on collecting benefit payments as requested, when have rang him to see if he wants payments paid direct to him he has said no as he doesnt want to risk having to pay back any over payments, he also now want us to issue notice of possession from rent due date, can we refuse to take the benefit payment and advise landlord has to be paid direct to him as we dont want to be in a postion where we have to pay back any overpayments from our account.
