Stamp duty HAS to be paid on any residential agrement which exceeds rents of £5,000.00 per annum - £417.00 per month. Failure to comply will result in fines!

Does anyone admit to regularly paying this duty or has fallen fowl of the law?.

A recent court letter relating to a possession application requests proof that duty has been paid, where applicable.

A Judge recently told me if he got out of bed the wrong side he was sure he could throw out 99.9% of all possession cases just because duty had not been paid.

Any comments from anyone? I know in the past one could go to the Post Office, pay £5.00 and have agreements retrospectively stamped but my local PO knows nothing of this!!
