Hi

If a landlord neglects to place a deposit in an approved scheme, and notify within 14 days, I understand that they can be fined 3 times the deposit amount.

However can they be fined if after the tenancy ends? e.g. if there is a dispute, and the deposit is not protected, can the tenant still take action against the landlord? And what happens if it has been protected, but the tenant was not notified? Is there a fine payable then?

Thanks in advance for any help
