My student daughter and 3 housemates have a landlord who wishes to retain some of the deposit for various reasons - I can forward on the messages - but we hope we can quash a number of points before asking the TDS to arbitrate. 2 out of 6 sofa cusions have gone missing, my daughter feels sure they are from IKEA and worth a couple of quid each - we have asked for original receipts and replacement paperwork, but he feels he should be to claim for the chore of buying and delivery. The garden was done 19 days prior to moving out but he felt the weeds and lawn had grown enough to warrant over £60 of gardening. All his claims - 2 scratches on chairs, broken bin lid, broken shelf front on freezer are in my experience as a landlord of a student house the things you put up with, you get good money for students who tend to only occuly the house for 9-10 months in the year! Sorry about the rant but advice would be welsome and anyone with experience of TDS arbitration welcomed - thanks
