What do i need to check and record when a tenants leave property. Tennant has been a very good, pays on time and keeps the porperty very clean and tidy.

Tennat has given notice verballly by phone? - is this okay or do we need it in writing, also is there a check list of things to do when tennat leaves e.g do we need to give tennant a record of meter readings etc, also deposit was paid to in cash, do we have to return it in cash or can we write a cheques or is just a case of what we agree with tennant. Is it advisable to get a forwarding address?

I will obviuosly go through and check inventory with Tennant, but is there anything else i need to do.

My apologies in advance if this sounds very basic, but this is the first tennat that i have leaving a property.
