Releasing Deposits to Joint Tenants

Hi

I have a house let in a joint tenancy. One tenant wants to leave, replacing himself with a new tenant. The deposit is held by the deposit protection scheme.

Must the total existing deposit for the property be repaid, and a new deposit created for the whole property, or can just the leaving tenants portion of the deposit be repaid to him?
