A tenant has quit early even cancelling their final cheque while arguing for a deposit refund even though it is lodged with the DPS. As the tenancy didn’t complete its full term I have requested a full deposit return to me. I can see on the DPS site that I have requested 100% and awaiting a response from the tenant. I have supplied their new address but communication with them is impossible and fractious. My question is what do I do now? I want the deposit to partly cover rent loss and dishonoured cheque but they are not going to cooperate and it is sitting with the DPS.
