legal time limit for damage claim

hi,my tennants moved out on 24 july,they have caused damage to the house,i have given them guotes to repair the damage,and as of yet have not agreed or disputed the costs.is there a legal time limit to settle this possible dispute that may lose me my legal wright to get money from there deposit to repair or replace any damage,there deposit is held with the DPS
