Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. My daughter is at university 4 hours away from home. She has a house share arranged with 4 other students from a private landlord arranged via a letting agent. She has paid her deposit and agents fees.

The problem is that 3 of the other students were set to move in on Saturday but when they went to the agent were told that my daughter had to be present to sign a form before they would release the keys. There is a fifth student who is on holiday overseas and they said they will make an exception for him as he's on holiday so he does not have to sign until he returns from holiday.

This doesn't sound right to me somehow and I'm wondering if it might be possible for documents to be faxed for her to sign, but apparently on Saturday the agent was telling the other students that my daughter would have to be there to sign the form or they would not get the keys.

The other students are currently sleeping on someone else's floor and my daughter is upset and not wanting to make an expensive 8 hour return trip just to sign a form as she needs to be at home for events later in the week and was not planning to return to uni until the weekend.

I'd like to be able to ring the agent on Monday armed with something that says there is no need sign the form in their office - that it can be faxed/scanned and returned to them.

Can anyone help on this one?
