It doesnt really work like that. An agent can only carry out credit checks and searches the same as you can.We all know that even if all of these are good it doesnt give you complete guarantees of anything.
I prefer to carry out all my own checks and if necessary check out guarantors etc.
You may find that some agents will put a tenant in your property that you may not of chosen but the agent comes from a diferent direction to the landlord and may just want his money without too much effort.
