This question is about what is counted as a "day" in a rental period.

An AST started 26 March 2009 with a fixed term of six months, but the tenant needed to stay on for a few days longer in order to complete his move, and finally handed back the keys on 3 October 2009.

My first question is: was the final day of the six month term the 25th or the 26th of September 2009?

Secondly, how many days is this overrun? 6? 7? 8?

Lastly, is there some legislation that defines this? Is it like hotels where one counts the "nights" rather than the whole days?

Many thanks!
