I allowed my tenants to move into my newly renovated flat before it was quite finished. They were OK until the end of 2011. There is a problem caused by condensation, they like to live in a "sauna". They have involved the Environmental Health Officer but EHO says they are not ventillating the property properly so he cannot help them.

They requested I put up curtains and blinds which I did within a week of them moving in. My point is that the curtains to the balcony by the living room have become badly affected by mould, ruined in fact. The Tenant says that I must not deduct compensation from their Deposit because the curtains were not in place when they took possession of the property. They say I can take them away and they will put up their own. I think that if they want to put up their own curtains that's fine but they should store mine and put them up when they leave. Can anyone give me my position on this.
