I have jst been informed by local Housing officer , that my tenant has left the property and is receiving housing benefit from another local authority. The tenant has left personal possesions in the flat , clothes, furniture kitchen items , pictures, etc.and i wa sunder the impression she was still there however , that aside
I have been cleared by the housing officer to re-let the flat but need to know how long do i legally have to keep her belongings? , she owes me 5weeks rent but i assume i am not entitled to recover this cost from her possesions and to be frank they wouldnt anywhere near cover her arrears, but am i allowed to charge storage and for how long ?, bear in mind i know i wont get rent or storage costs as tenant is on benefits . I would appreciate any advise
