Dear RLA

I have 2 flats in a block of about 60. Over the last few years, we have had several leaks from washing machines, pipes, bathrooms, etc which have caused damage to the flats below.

The Managing Agents, who insure the building, say the insurance company will no longer payout on the damage caused by a particular tenant or flat.

A few days ago we were informed of a leak into our flat from above, and then the 2 flats below also contacted me about damage to their flats. It looks like the owner of the flat above will have to pick up a bill for damage to 3 flats now. Had it been really serious it could have amounted to quite a lot of money.

I am concerned that it could just have easily been me. And several other owners feel similar. Is there any way we can protect ourselves - some form of Insurance, etc that might cover this?

Thanks

Mrs Samantha Bates
