I was under the understanding that when a property is left unoccupied you do not have to pay council tax on the property for 3 months if the property is vacant of all furnishings and fittings. Is this still the case or have the rules changed? I have a flat in hammersmith and the council have sent me a bill for the month it was unoccupied even though I have explained that all furnishings and fittings had been removed from the property upon exit of the old tenants and the new tenants have moved in and new fittings placed upon their tenancy commencing.
