Some short time ago I had an application for tenancy of my property.
Despite stipulating that DSS or Housing Benefit claimants would not be considered one applicant informed me that she had already been in discussion with the benefits people regarding payment direct to a landlord. This was before she viewed my property. During the course of the conversation ( I had already decided that she was a non runner - I was only trying to be firm but polite) she asked if I had any intention of increasing the rent within a 12 month period.

So it would appear that the question is not as remote as one might believe.

I had perhaps a dozen or so applicants (DSS/HB Claimants) express an interest despite my stipulation to the contrary.

Also had one of the above who had (upon further questioning) 3 dogs despite my stipulation of No Animals or Pets.

You and you alone must make the decision as to whether to entertain DSS or HB claimants.

Hope this helps.
