I have a damages claim coming up where the carpet amongst everything else was ruined, the carpet had been fitted for five years but had very light wear and tear and I would of expected it to last another 5(min) to 10 years. I now realise that I can only claim for a percentage of the carpet as I have already had 5 years wear out of it-So the longer the expected wear and tear time I claim, the less it will reduce in value! and hopefully the more I will be awarded.
My question therefore is, what is a reasonable time that will be acceptable by the courts that I can claim to expect my carpet to last?
