This is just a 'tip' re sub-letting fees being claimed by management companies.

I received 3 bills from a management company advising me that I needed to pay for permission to sub-let my flats and they wanted £117.50 per flat. I asked my solicitor to check my leases and they advised me that I did not need permission. I wrote to the management company and sent them copies of my solicitors letter. The MC wrote back and advised me that they had amended their details and I did not owe them the money. I looked on the internet at this company and I am not the only person this has happened to. I was told by someone at the company that their computer system just picks up that the mailing address for the property is different to the property address and sends these bills out automatically! I did send them a copy of my sols bill which they have refused to reimburse even though the error was on their part.

I have now received the same type of letter from another MC and after 3 requests to check their details I have had no response, I wonder why?

So, from my experience, if you get one of theses sub-letting bills ask the company to check their records and provide evidence before you pay any money
