Hi,
I am renovating a property which is currently empty. I have had an exepmtion from council tax but this seems only valid for the first 6 months. After that there is only a 10% discount, even if there is noone resident. I just want to know is this is indeed the case, and if it is on a council by council basis or the same for all councils. Yes, I know I need to hurry up and finish the property (some issues with builders etc). But if say it is a large development, can a property remain empty for over 6 months and an owner still be exempt from council tax?

Thanks.
