Out of the blue I had a letter from my tenants saying they wanted to leave. This letter arrived on the 19th October 2011. They say they are leaving on the 8th Oct.and that they sent it on the 8th Sept. 2011. The postmark says the 18th. The letter was type written with no signature. I consequently told them I need more notice and their signatures. They sent the same letter with signatures on it. I now find they are leaving on the 2nd.Nov. 2011. REnt is paid by them up to the 7th Oct. I had problems with the hot water not working but within one week of notice replaced the boiler and pipes so it works properly. They had left it 5 days before telling me which I said they should have told me straight away. They are also accusing me of lying over the postmark. They also say they took advice and I should have put them up in hotels till the problem was solved. I did ask them when the problem first accured if they would like to borrow some heaters but they said No they were ok. I dont know how I could have done more. This is 2 women and 2 children. I have not argued with them as they are going but can I put in for part of the deposit to be given to me for less than one month notice to quit as it says in their Tenancy agreement. I cant go to see them at the moment as I have bronchitus and one lady has bad asthma.
