Dear Helpdesk,

Immediately I suspected my tenant was working I spoke to him. He accepted he had just started paid employment. The next working day I reported those facts to the LHA paying department. They now tell me he has been over paid and they will deduct any overpayment from the LHA I receive on behalf of other tenants.

Please can you guide me as to the central government advice to councils on deductions from honest law abiding landlords. I guess the council will ignore that advice until any appeal process is determined, hopefully in my favour.
