I am looking at offering a reduced rent for payment further in advance than the usual 1 month. The two reasons are that it reduces the risk of default and I can save interest costs elsewhere by having the money in advance.

I am going to be using the RLA Deposit Guard AST and just wanted to get advice about whether there is any reason why I can't ask for the advance payment as rent x number of months in advance or if it would be better to treat is a rent 1 month in advance, and the balance as deposit ? (There would be a small deposit anyway).

Has anybody else any experience of this?

Many thanks

Martin
