I have been contacted by the managing agents of a block where I own four flats. They want details of all my tenants, their names, phone nos and whether they are in receipt of benefits. This information has apparently been requested by the insurer. I have repeatedly told them that as I live round the corner I would like to be listed as the emergency contact for all four flats. Can they insist on this information? Surely I cannot pass on personal information under the Data Protection Act. So - can I pass on these details, and if I can do I have to?
