Section 8 counterclaim question
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

I'm trying to possess under S8 (under 6 months so can't under S21 yet). Served S8 last week, court papers filed mid-Dec. Just to prepare myself for the future, will my tenant be able to file a counter claim if they haven't been in contact with me at all since the beginning of the tenancy?

I haven't had a phone call, text, email or anything since they moved in and have been unable to contact them (I've kept a diary of all this), but I know they are using the flat (noise complaints from neighbours).

Will the tenant be able to file a counterclaim for disrepair, even though contact has been zero?
