Two queries please ?

Is it necessary that a tenancy agreement ( 6 or 12 months) be witnessed by a third party ?

I have a tenant at present that is about to renew their tenancy. At present the tenancy agrement is for one individual but it is very likely that the tenant will be getting married within the next the next 6 months and the partner likely to move in. How would this affect the tenancy agreement as it would be only for the current tenant and not for a joint tenancy. . Would it best to renew just for 6 months and then review the situation or is there another alternative.

Thank you in advance for your advice
