I just got a notice from EDF that my monthly DD is going up. While the account has only used 1 kw unit over the last 2 months, EDF's daily charge of 24p adds up.

I have made one call to another supplier but the sales guy became befuddled when he noticed that is a "business account."

Question:

1. Must electricity that serves only the common area of a freehold be designated a business account and therefore be assessed a higher charge.

2. Can someone suggest an electricity provider that is not so expensive, no matter what type of account it is.
