My wife is doing the EPC course and is not far off completing the course. They have had discussions at the course and they came up with this;
Whilst an EPC gives a "indication" of its thermal capabilities and gives a cost to run the house (but this is based on 2 adults and 2 children)whether its a mansion or a studio flat.
EPC's are sent by computer to their government approved agencies who then collate all the info for the government.
Did you know that in about 6 years, between the rental market and the sales market, the government will obtain the floor plans of about 85% of the private housing stock in England and Wales and Northen Ireland.
What do you think they could do with all this data? (aside from lose it of course)?
Would / could all of the info be sent to the Valuation Office (an executive office of the Inland Revenue) who put valuations on Council tax bands? If your Local Authority had the square metreage of all our houses .................................
What else?
Suggestions on a post card please ................
