How useful do colleagues anticipate attending the Annual Conference in November will be?
It would be pleasant I'm sure, not convinced however, it would a valuable, rewarding exercise, or be 'best value' for the cost of 2 conference tickets, meals, refreshments, an overnight hotel room the previous night, petrol costs, etc. Not to mention the risk of catching Covid [again].

To listen to august guest speakers who'll have no impact on anything, or don't possess the clout to influence 'the Powers that be' reduces the event to a pleasant 'jolly'. A very expensive one at that. In my eyes, I hasten to add.

My long membership of the RLA [now NRLA] fronts a passion for my industry, a passion for providing superb homes to appreciative renters and a white hot passion for providing safe and secure rentals. These virtues are not just peculiar to me; they are also reflected in the many thousands of the NRLA membership.
Listening to folk spout their own fondly held beliefs [at that time] seems such a waste of my time and my money. A lot to fork out for little, or no return.

Can I have your thoughts in case I'm really missing a golden opportunity, or is my 7 month battle with long-covid dulling my good sense; even more than I thought?

Open to being convinced that at this point in time when more regulations & liabilities are upon us [ cost unknown] that, such a 'jolly' can be justified. Even when the bribe of the points [that don't win prizes] is factored in. Not breeding sedition folks, just trying to be realistic.

I find it hard to commit to anything the NRLA proposes, because of their protracted lack of concern for the opinions of its loyal members & icy distancing from them. This fault lies with the NRLA itself who have turned a deaf ear to suggestions to create ANY SORT of relationship beyond the one dimensional Q/A forum. This facility is valuable to an extent because its used as the single option to reach hearts, minds, arms & legs of the membership. In my experience it fails to do so.
Short-sighted to from a great height, treat LLd's as mere mushrooms.

The prime example being when a member poses a question, or takes time to post a suggestion, the proposer is asked to send such 'on elsewhere'. What no mechanism for thanking the member for their time/effort,....or for relaying the post onto the appropriate dept?
Seems just a shameful ploy to ignore members 'wants & needs', at the very least its yet another opportunity to promote the 'like it or lump it' mantra of the NRLA.

Who need to 'be seen' to take the membership with them, not leave them behind on the battlefield.

If this IS picked up by a member of the advice team & if you have a spare minute, then pass it on to the Policy Team. Amalgamation of two enterprises is difficult not impossible. This planned- for careless approach to a conjoined membership, makes for a disgruntled membership.
