The Tenancy Agreement names a sole tenant. After 6 months, said sole tenant renewed and later went on to a periodic tenancy.
The Agreement on re-signing remained the same - one named tenant.
Clauses in the Agreement state that the property is for the use of the tenant named on page 1, ie sole tenant, who initially declared himself “Single”. It goes on the state that the tenant must not allow ‘any other person’ to reside there.
By chance, some time later after an inspection, it was evident that the tenant had married - but has not formally identified said ‘any other occupant’ - no name, no d.o.b., no spouse visa, no nothing ….. and all requests for this ID are ignored.
Two concerns:

  1. Has anyone been able to evict on the basis of such a breach of contract?
  2. I am acutely aware of the Home Office Right Rent legislation - but if the info is being consciously withheld….. what next?
