I have recently bought a house converted to 4 flats. One is vacant and there are 3 in-situ tenants. The only tenant with access to the backyard through their back door has screwed the back gate shut from the inside preventing me accessing the yard. I need to get in for trades to install vents in the upper flats and to clear the gutter. On checking his tenancy agreement, it does not mention he has exclusive rights to the backyard. His tenancy agreement is the same as the other tenants. He has been aggressive towards me already- enough for me to have called the police and is ignoring inspection and access requests. My question is - can I remove the back gate to gain access for work to be done?
